“The Turning” Evangelistic Outreach in Southampton – 9th – 21st October
Recently, in several towns and cities in southern England, people have been responding to the sharing of the Gospel, giving or rededicating their lives to Christ, on a scale that has not seen in this country for a great many years. It began in May when The Gate Baptist Church and its minister, Yinka Oyekan, started a mission on the streets of Reading. Three weeks later, 1,200 people had made a commitment to Christ.
Those involved at the heart of the events in Reading will be in Southampton from 9th – 21st October to lead an outreach entitled “The Turning”. Details are as follows:
Sunday 9th October: 6.30pm Launch Service, City Life Church, 286 Burgess Road.
We’re cancelling our 6.30 service on the 9th to encourage more of us to go. Lift-sharing strongly advised! St John’s will be open for prayer though.
Monday-Friday 10th-14th and 17th-21st EACH DAY:
10 – 11.30am Daily worship and training in outreach, Above Bar Church
11.30 – 1.00 Outreach in the city
2.00 onwards Further outreach, plus training in following-up those who respond
7.30pm Worship & Encounter meetings, Central Hall.
The feeling at our PCC Awayday was that we must understand how significant these 2 weeks could turn out to be. We should all really pray for The Turning, for all the outreach and training and those who may be reached. We should pray as individuals, home groups and congregations. More than that, if we are able, we should ask God what part of this he wants us to go and join in with, even if it’s just one daytime session or evening meeting.
LET’S NOT ALLOW A WORK OF GOD LIKE THIS TO PASS US BY.
Julian on behalf of all at the PCC Awayday
